Doa Selamat At SKSWood Project Office

27th February 2009, Friday – In view of the start of the major campaign works, SKSWood held a doa selamat ceremony at the Project Office. The ceremony was to seek blessings in advance for the safety of all involved and the success for the works to be executed. Yang Mulia Tuan Imam Hj Omarali Bin Hj Hussin delivered the prayer. Among BSP’s management team representatives were Haji Aji Hj Hitam (SCO), David Purvis (BSP Technical Director) and Tonya Williams (SCO/5 Contract Holder). Don Ballantyne (Managing Director), Marjory Toidy (Human Resources Manager), Hernando Caceres (Commercial / Business Assurance Manager), Hj Md. Musa Bin Hj Suhaili (Business Development & External Affairs Manager) and Gary Tassle (Wood Group Asia Pacific Project Manager) and SKSWood staff were also present to give their support to the occasion.

The event with its large turnout was an opportunity for various heads to emphasize the importance of compliance, investigation and attitude for the safety of all. Hj Musa pressed on the message, “Don’t be a hero” by taking short cuts in order to execute tasks faster – a message which was later on emphasized on and supported by Haji Aji. Don Ballantyne mentioned that the day’s messages were for everyone, offshore and onshore, to be vigilant in their works. To constantly take personal accountability for their actions and be mindful and aware of the results or consequences of our actions. David Purvis noted that SKSWood has maintained the Goal Zero record for the past 11 months, which is a globally significant achievement. He also mentioned BSP’s expectation, which is the achievement of 4000 over WONs to be executed with 60% productive time, 750,000 working hours while maintaining Goal Zero by October 31st 2009.

The ceremony ended with the main message that safety should always be the top priority, a closing prayer and, as is customary, a buffet of local delicacies for those in attendance.
