Internal Supervisory Workshop & Conference With BSP

24th - 25th February 2009, Tuesday & Wednesday – As part of 2009 campaign planning preparations (page 8), SKSWood have organized the 2-day supervisor workshop to address the 2009 campaign expectations in terms of safety in campaigns; the campaign contract; learning from incidents (2007 & 2008); non-conformance QA/QC and HSE cascade; leading integrated mechanical and electrical and instrumentation activities; the new contractual KPIs and strategies to comply; time writing process; offshore campaign execution; QA/QC improvements; and supervisors and support staff’s job descriptions.

SKSWood have utilised the opportunity to cascade the valuable learnings from the Kaizen workshops and exercises relating to improving on productive time, follow-ups and recommendations on offshore campaign execution related tasks.

The workshop was kicked off by Calvin Tan, SKSWood Operations Manager, who touched on the topics that play key roles in the corporate performance: Safety, World economy crisis, Business improvement – doing things differently, Productive time (time spent on productive outcome), Time-writing (process of recording hours spent on specific jobs).

The event also included various team building exercises led by Dr. Jess of Adinin. It was stressed that working on improving dynamics of the team and for everyone to play their roles responsibly are vital for the team’s effectiveness and efficiency in not only carrying out the tasks but also to get along.

During the SKSWood-led workshop, Prabakar Kumar (SKSWood HSE Manager) noted that the company achieved the remarkable Health Safety Environment recorded overall performance review in 2008 for this current contract with BSP through team effort. SKSWood also received Shell EP (exploration) Asia Pacific “Living Goal Zero” award (2008).

The workshop is also an opportunity for the management level to cascade client requirements of the jobs to be executed.

To consolidate the workshop with BSP’s Services Campaign Operations (SCO), Tonya Williams (SCO/5, Head of Campaign Contract) opened with her speech stressing on the importance of taking personal accountability regarding safety. She touched on the various topics which play a significant role in the success of the extended contract: Goal Zero, CIA (Compliance, Intervention, Attitude), paying attention to Green Helmets in your surroundings, importance of issuing PAKATs regularly, importance of inspecting equipment regularly, completing tasks and leaving the work area in an acceptable condition, protect materials and equipment, properly erect and tag scaffolding, importance of crane inspection and maintenance, good housekeeping habits, and reviewing learnings from previous incidents. This was then further emphasized by Don Ballantyne, (Managing Director of SKSWood), “HSE is our number one priority”.
