"SKSWood is very proud to have been associated with this BSP project, which easily, in terms of manhours expended (>400K), became the biggest offshore project executed in 2008. Even remarkable is the excellent performance on the HSE front, with Zero injuries recorded for the entire duration of the execution phase, both onshore and offshore. Given the heavy construction nature of the work its complexity and the interfaces involved, not mentioning the ever present hazards all around. It is not difficult to imagine the huge effort, dedication, vigilance and care exercised at every moment by every one, involved directly or indirectly with the project, to have achieved this wonderful achievement, a personal triumph in its self. The excellent result is also a solid proof of the high standards of collaboration, team work and cooperation shown and enjoyed by all client and contractor parties." - Michael James, Project Manager, SKSWood.

9th July 2009, Thursday – BSP Major Projects today celebrated in style an important milestone of the Mampak Project, the first oil production from the new MMDP-01 drilling platform flowing to Magpie on May 1, 2009 as targeted. The celebration is a culmination of completing major works at the Magpie and Mampak fields inclusive of CPRJ-01, involving the installation and commissioning of three new and mothballing one existing pipelines, a submarine composite (power/telecoms) cable, a 700 tons power generators module with three gas turbine Solar generators on MGCPO-01and major upgrades to production facilities on MGPP-01.

MAMPAK, along with Magpie, is now a remotely operated oil platform located about 30 kilometers off Brunei shores. BSP first made its oil discovery in MAMPAK in 1997. Today, the field with the exiting Magpie field produces 2,500 cubic meters (12,000 bbl) of oil per day.

The celebration was held at the BSRC Cenderawasih Hall and included celebration speeches by key Project figures and none less than the Asset Director, Hjh Rsmawatty who certainly added grace to the occasion with a rousing address to the audience. Hjh Rosmawatty pointed out that Magpie is the first campaign, with ‘State of the Art’ control and automation systems, which proved to be very challenging, but it is the start of the learning phase for future campaigns.

There was the show and tell posters peppered around the Hall, manned by engineers very eager to tell their part of the Mampak success story.

The contractors involved with the Mampak project were awarded plaques of excellence attesting to their project commitment and especially to their highly commendable safety record. The recognition plaques were presented by Dyg. Hjh. Rosmawatty Bt. Hj. A Mumin (Asset Director), Mr. Rob Brouwer (Major Project Manager) and Mr. Gerbert Schooman (East Asset Manager) with Mohd. Saifulbahri Mohd. Alinoordin (MAMPAK Project Lead).

With safety as the main priority in the execution of the work, the project has expended approximately 2.4 million man hours (and growing) and has accumulated 6,126 PAKAT forms (2008). This achievement is shared with numerous contractors at different phases of the project i.e from design, fabrication, installation and commissioning/startup. SKSWood played a major role as the offshore executer for topside modifications, new installations, pre-commissioning and commissioning startup support of the Magpie facilities. With a campaign, which extended for half a year (June 08 - Dec 08), this is the biggest single location work carried out by the company. The work was executed with close communication from the SKSWood team with BSP project team. Expanded man-hours were in the region of more than 0.5 million with resources in the form of project management, planning, material management, onshore fabrication, logictics and offshore execution.

Other contractors who played significant roles are SKS Sendirian Berhad for fabrication works, being the first local contractor being awarded an integrated contract (EPC scope) in partnership with international suppliers; MPM inhouse heavylift and pipelline and cable installation contractor, Swiber and Adinin and Sons in partnership with Solar Turbines provided the Gas Turbine Generators.
