Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd, granted a two-year contract extension to SKSWood for the Offshore Construction and Maintenance Contract commencing in 2011.

SKSWood have executed and managed the offshore construction and maintenance associated with approximately 200 offshore assets by means of campaigns for BSP since 2003.

The current focus is on asset restoration of all BSP’s offshore facilities. The scope of services includes, work preparation and scheduling, fabrication, materials handling, electrical and instrumentation, and offshore execution. The peak campaign period runs from March to October whereby some 1,200 people are engaged.

The contract also emphasise on strong performance of safety. This is also to complement the safety performance of BSP, as one of the top safety performers in Shell. As with all construction activities, safety management of the workforce is paramount. Rigorous HSE Frontline Focus is embraced, ensuring the integrity of our performance.

SKSWood take pride in excellent HSE performance. In December 2009 the company exceeded 4 million manhours worked incident free.

SKSWood’s presence within the region will be stronger with the added capability to develop more Bruneians as a workforce in the oil and gas industries. Since works of the extension were confirmed, a total of 9 locals have been employed with an overall total of 14 employees added to SKSWood’s employment register.

The extension of the contract allows for more work execution to be carried out, resulting in more local employment opportunities and partner enhancement of the Brunei Supply Chain. It generates positive spin-off outcomes to other local companies who served as supplier and service providers to support these activities and ensures sustainability of local skills and businesses in going forward.

Bob Beavis, Regional Director Wood Group said, “I am delighted that BSP have elected an extension with SKSWood, this contract is fundamental to Wood Group’s positioning in Asia Pacific and reflects our well-built relationship with BSP.”
