The fourth quarter of Safety Takes Priority Week was held from the 28th September to 1st October 2009. The exhibition themed “Working at Heights”, was held at the Cenderawaseh Hall, Brunei Shell Recreational Center. It aimed to raise awareness of the potential hazards of various working scenarios related to the topic while showcasing learning points and new methods adopted to aid in reducing and preventing risks.
Working at Heights involves lifting, loading, slinging with equipments such as lanyards, cranes, forklifts and ladders.
Topics showcased at the event touched on importance of regularity and frequency of equipments inspections such as lanyards used in hoisting, spotting defects and damage in equipments, identifying personnel and trades that are prone to such potential hazards and risks, recovery actions to take in event of a working at heights incident and health implications. The importance of training all personnel involved on material handling and methods on working safely at various heights such as on scaffolds, roofs and ladders, was also emphasized.
A model of a working at heights scenario was displayed in efforts of educating and information sharing.
