The second town hall was held at the BSRC Cenderawaseh Hall, with SKSWood management and onshore personnel in attendance. The town hall serves as a platform for personnel from all ranks to voice their work related concerns and opinions in an open discussion format. The aim is to clarify any confusion, highlight general essential changes that will affect personnel as a whole and provide updates of corporate performance.
Updates on the global market situation affecting the company, such as job cuts within the local oil and gas community that pose negative commercial implications on SKSWood operations was mentioned.
Justifications on concerns raised in the previous town hall session, which was held on the 22nd April, were brought up, closing the issues – issues regarding offshore trips, training and career development opportunities and the commercial impact on staff from the Bruneianisation program effort.
The management expressed the need to utilize local companies more to assist in controlling expenditure, help develop more local companies and contribute more towards the local economy. SKSWood saw a 38% improvement in expenditure in the past year due to converting selection of suppliers from the international pool to the local market.
